Photos tell the truth faster than any pitch. We’ve spent over two decades in Atlanta garages, and the transformations that stick with us aren’t the prettiest doors we’ve installed. They’re the ones where a snapped cable had a 180-pound door hanging at a 20-degree angle, or a rusted spring finally gave out at 2 a.m. in Brookhaven. Below you’ll see what real repairs look like before our techs arrive and after they finish. The written price you get matches what you’ll see on the invoice, every single time.

Torsion Spring Replacement in Decatur

The homeowner heard what sounded like a gunshot from the garage. That’s the sound a torsion spring makes when it breaks under tension. We found the right-side spring snapped into three pieces and the left one was 11 years old and fatigued – replacing only the broken one would have left the door unbalanced and put the opener motor under strain it wasn’t built for. We installed a matched pair rated for the door’s weight, lubricated the bearings, and checked the door’s travel. From first call to finished job was about four hours, and the door has opened smoothly ever since.
Snapped Cable Repair in Sandy Springs

A cable doesn’t usually snap without warning. This one had been fraying for months – the homeowner noticed strands peeling away near the bottom bracket but didn’t realize what it meant. When it finally gave, the door slammed down on the left side and wedged against the track. Cables carry the door’s full weight, and working around them under tension is genuinely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. We replaced both cables as a set, inspected the drums for scoring, and realigned the tracks. The door now raises and lowers evenly with no grinding.
Off-Track Door Realignment in East Atlanta

This one came from a worn nylon roller that disintegrated while the door was mid-cycle. The bottom panel popped out of the vertical track and the door locked up crooked, leaving the garage half-open overnight. The homeowner had tried to force it back down with a pry bar before calling us, which bent the track further. We straightened the track, replaced all the rollers with sealed ball-bearing units, and adjusted the limits on the opener. Now the door runs quieter than it has in years – and the garage can actually be secured again.
Extension Spring Failure in College Park

Extension springs are the long coils that run along the horizontal tracks on both sides of the door. When one breaks, the door lurches to one side and the remaining spring rarely survives long. This College Park home had a single spring snap and the other one was so stretched it measured four inches longer than spec. We gave the homeowner two options: replace both extension springs, or convert to a torsion system above the door, which is the newer and safer design. They chose the conversion. The door now lifts evenly and the risk of a future side-failure is off the table.
Bent Track Replacement in Buckhead

Buckhead driveways don’t always leave much room for error. This homeowner backed in a little too far, and the car’s bumper pushed the vertical track inward about two inches. Any attempt to open the door would have pulled the rollers out and dropped the panel. We confirmed the panels themselves were undamaged, then removed the bent section, installed new track, and checked the full door alignment with a level. Total job was under two hours. The door clears the opening with room to spare.
Opener Tension Reset After Spring Work in Midtown

We see this one regularly in Midtown condos and older homes: someone replaces the springs but never adjusts the opener to match. The motor was fighting the door, reversing mid-cycle because it thought it hit an obstruction. The homeowner had already replaced the sensors and called us ready to buy a whole new opener. We checked the spring balance first – new springs were fine – then reset the opener’s force settings and travel limits. It took about 40 minutes. No new opener needed.
